Yesterday, American Bridge 21st Century co-chair and former president of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards joined MSNBC’s Alex Wagner to discuss the dire consequences of the abortion bans Republicans have enacted into law throughout the county.
Richards emphasizes that abortion access will certainly be a motivating issue for midterm voters. New survey data from the Kaiser Family Foundation finds that “3 in 5 women ages 18 to 59 who say they are more likely to head to the polls next month cite the Supreme Court decision as a motivator.”
“The last thing we need is government in our lives. It’s why you see the Republicans not talking about this issue anywhere. This is the most unpopular thing that they’ve ever done,” said American Bridge Co-Chair Cecile Richards. “And I think it’s going to not only impact this election, I think it’s going to impact the presidential election […] because these stories, the ones you just showed, they’re not going away. It’s going to get worse. People are going to be having their own experiences. And I think what I’m grateful is that people are willing to share just what it’s like because this is not right. This is not America. This is, this is anti-freedom. And I feel like it is going to have a, it’s going have a huge impact in this country.”
