Don Bacon spent his last debate lying to voters about the national abortion ban he co-sponsored three times in Congress, leaving Nebraskans wondering if he’s going to try similarly pathetic antics at this evening’s debate. Beyond opposing reproductive freedom, Nebraska’s four-term congressman has also spent his time in Washington trying to take away health care access for working-class Americans, all while helping pass massive tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.
“We’re betting Rep. Don Bacon is going to, once again, lie to voters about the national abortion ban he supported — but Nebraskans know the truth about his crusade to take away their reproductive freedom,” said American Bridge spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Nebraskans are tired of Don Bacon’s falsehoods and the other dirty tricks he picked up in Trump’s swamp.”

Abortion
- Bacon opposed abortion even in cases of rape and incest.
- In 2016, he even opposed exceptions to these bans to save the lives of pregnant women.
- Bacon co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
- Bacon signed an amicus brief that urged the Supreme Court to allow states to ban hospitals from providing emergency abortions.
- Asked about a potential ballot initiative to protect abortion access in Nebraska, Bacon said, “I just go with the voters.”
- He put out a press release touting his votes against the “Women’s Health Protection Act of 2022” and H.R. 8297, the “Ensuring Access to Abortion Act of 2022.”
Trump
- Bacon’s official office reportedly helped a Trump media executive skip the immigration line, despite Bacon previously talking about the process needing to be fair.
- Bacon said the prosecution of Trump for giving hush money payments to an adult film actress was conducted by “overzealous prosecutors.”
