Ad follows bombshell report this morning that Collins used office to enrich her husband’s business
In response to this morning’s bombshell report detailing how Senator Susan Collins has used her office to benefit her husband’s business, American Bridge 21st Century is launching a new statewide digital ad buy in Maine. Collins’ husband’s business received millions of dollars in government contracts from agencies Collins oversaw. Collins fought to give government contractors like her husband a special tax cut, and even tried to shield them from disclosing campaign contributions. While Collins was using her office to benefit her husband’s business, her own personal net worth rose by millions. The statewide digital ad buy begins running this evening and is targeted towards independent voters.
“Senator Collins got caught red-handed using her office to enrich herself,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Zach Hudson. “Susan Collins’ husband’s lobbying firm received millions from government agencies Collins oversaw, while Collins’ own net worth rose by millions. Even worse, Collins fought to give companies like her husband’s a special tax cut and fiercely opposed efforts to rein in corrupt lobbyists. Susan Collins has clearly been in Washington too long, and Mainers are fed up with self-dealing politicians using their positions to line their own pockets.”
