Senator Kelly Ayotte can’t run away from her record. Rather than spend her time in the Senate working for New Hampshire, she voted for the Kochs’ special interests nearly 90 percent of the time, supporting policies that hurt the Granite State. Ayotte is so committed to her partisan agenda, she’s even promised to vote for the extremist GOP nominee, helping to normalize Donald Trump’s extremism, misogyny, and racism.
Trump has repeatedly taken heat for his offensive comments on women, referring to women as “fat pigs,” attacking them for their weight, calling pregnancy “an inconvenience,” and a working woman “dangerous” just to name a few. Yet, Ayotte won’t back down from her support for him. On Tuesday, after Trump again attacked former Miss Universe Alicia Machado for her physical appearance, the senator called Trump’s debate performance “fine.” She continues to confirm her support for Trump agreeing that he is the best choice for the president. Perhaps because Ayotte lines up with Trump in more ways than she’d like voters to know.
Instead of fighting for the women of New Hampshire, Ayotte’s record is a sham:
- Ayotte lobbied against better access to women’s health care. She voted repeatedly to defund Planned Parenthood — which serves 13,000 patients in New Hampshire every year.
- Ayotte co-sponsored legislation that would force women to pay more for access to birth control.
- Ayotte called for the overturning of Roe v. Wade (just like Donald Trump).
- On equal pay, her record is just as grievous. She voted to block the Paycheck Fairness Act four times and lobbied for a misleading bill that claimed pay discrimination wasn’t real.
Senator Kelly Ayotte doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to GOP nominee Donald Trump or stand up for what’s best for Granite State women and families.
