OR-05: Anti-Abortion Extremist Lori Chavez-DeRemer Is Taking the Debate Stage This Evening — Here’s What You Need to Know

Oct 15, 2024

For the past two debates, Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer has been working overtime to paint over her extreme anti-abortion views. At tonight’s debate, she’ll once again be doing her best to dodge questions about her extreme record.

“Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer is desperate to make voters forget that she supported a six-week abortion ban, and that will be on full display at tonight’s debate,” said American Bridge spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Oregonians can’t trust Rep. Chavez-DeRemer to fight for their reproductive freedom, so we know she’ll be trying every trick in the book to gloss over her record.”

Before joining Congress, Lori Chavez-DeRemer painted herself as a far-right conservative and often latched onto typical MAGA GOP talking points. But since then, she has gone to great lengths to try to “moderate” her views and positions to be more in line with a district she won by just over 7,000 votes in 2022. In particular, on the issue of abortion, Chavez-DeRemer has worked overtime to try to hide her past extreme anti-choice views.
