Rand's New Senior Adviser Oversaw A 19th Century Party Platform

Rand Paul is moving forward on his presidential pipe dream, but his vision for America is hauntingly backwards. Look no further than his campaign's newly minted senior adviser, former Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri. Under Munisteri's leadership, the Republican Party of Texas established an official party platform last year that endorses reparative therapy for homosexuals; urges the repeal of the Voting Rights Act, the 17th Amendment (direct election of US Senators), and the minimum wage; offers support for nullification of federal laws and the immediate privatization of Social Security; and encourages "dispelling the myth of separation of church and state." Rand Paul continues to try to paint himself as the Republican candidate who can broaden the party's appeal -- a remedy the GOP desperately needs. But when you move past his charade, it's the same ol' movie... Honey, I Shrunk The Tent.

Must Read: Rand Paul — Lying To Attack The Poor, Lying To Defend The Kochs

Rand Paul might be the most truth-averse candidate in the country, and his lies tell you a lot about his priorities. In the last week, Rand Paul has been rebuked for wrongfully attacking people on disability, and for making false claims about fraud in the Earned Income Tax Credit program, which is crucial for working families. But while he unfairly assails low-income Americans, there's one group of people he's happy to disingenuously defend: the Koch brothers. Paul heaped praise on them Tuesday, painting them as heroic victims who have never asked for a favor from government. But for guys who don't want any favors from government, they sure do spend an insane amount of money paying lobbyists to ask for favors from government.

American Bridge Running Twitter Ads To Remind Folks Of New Mitt's Old Record

Back To The Old Etch-A-Sketch... Mitt Romney is set to deliver a speech tonight -- apparently 2016 Mitt: Now Authentic!™ is a foreign policy expert who is set to enlighten us. But that's rich (pun intended) coming from Mitt, considering his previous iterations of self were plagued by a slew of foreign policy gaffes. In fact, he once argued that it was "not necessary for a president to be an expert in international matters." And of course, he'll continue to drone on with his message of job creation helped him win his presidential reelection in 2012 and create 11 million private sector jobs over the past four years. Oh wait, that was a different guy -- Mitt was the one who had Massachusetts at 47th in the nation in job growth and warned of economic ruin if President Obama won another term.

How Morally Bankrupt is the GOP? Bob Ehrlich's Running For President

Just how bankrupt is the Republican effort to ditch their brand? NH1's Paul Steinhauser writes for the National Journal that the presidential field is so big that even former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich is running:

Ehrlich plans to make his fourth visit to New Hampshire on Feb. 24, after meeting last week with more than 100 top donors in New York to discuss financing a potential campaign. At those meetings, he discussed setting up a leadership PAC, as a bunch of other probable candidates have done in recent weeks.
It should come as no shock that the GOP is tolerating the sleazy tactics, voter suppression, and convictions in would-be candidate Bob Ehrlich's record...
