"On Friday, the Democratic opposition research group American Bridge released a video headed, "Mitt's Flips: Race to the Top," which juxtaposed their tracker's footage of Romney with debate footage on the education program Race to the Top, and ended with his debate line, "words matter." Yesterday, Perry's campaign put out a video called "Romney's Race to the Flop," which contrasted debate footage with ... American Bridge tracking footage, with the logo blacked out. The kicker: "Words matter.""
Huffington Post: 'Harvard Faculty Lounge' Gives Mitt Romney More Than $56,000 In Donations
On September 26, the Huffington Post reported:
"Mitt Romney's routine castigation of the President Obama-"Harvard faculty lounge" nexus has always rung a bit hollow, considering the former Massachusetts governor's own ties to the university. [...] UPDATE: The American Bridge, a Democratic non-government research group, sends over two more anecdotes that further complicate Romney's digs at Obama's Harvard roots. The former Massachusetts Governor has turned to Harvard Business School graduate and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman to help trumpet his job creation proposals, even quoting her in the plan itself. Romney also gave $50,000 to the Harvard Business School in 2003, according to IRS filings -- underscoring either how much he actually values the institution from which he graduated or illustrating how deeply he wanted to maintain good relations with the university at the time."

Despite a due date of May 15, Josh Mandel told the Toledo Blade he plans for file his Senate personal financial disclosure in October.
State Treasurer Josh Mandel's campaign said Friday it expects to file sometime in October a federal personal financial disclosure form that was due May 15.
Washington Post: Records illuminate Senate hopeful Allen’s energy connections
On September 24 the Washington Post reported:
George Allen, Virginia’s leading Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, has made no secret of his interest in energy policy during his more than two decades in public office. But financial disclosure forms, campaign records and Allen’s staff show how close the former governor and senator has become to the energy industry since he lost his Senate seat in 2006. Allen earned nearly $350,000 from his consulting business that lists energy as one of its top priorities, and was paid at least $10,000 in consulting fees from a pair of the nation’s largest coal companies — Alpha Natural Resources and Peabody Energy. A separate nonprofit organization he formed after leaving the Senate tries to influence the public debate about energy in part with contributions from the industry. Since joining the race in January, Allen has received more than $150,000 in campaign donations from the energy and natural-resources industries — more than all but fourother 2012 Senate candidates in the nation.Click here to read more.

"Romney told a Florida audience on Wednesday that he supports many of the provisions in President Obama’s “Race to the Top” education reform policy. Last night, just a day later, Romney denied supporting “any particular program” in the president’s policy. The clip, from American Bridge, highlights the contradicting positions plainly — what Romney was for on Wednesday he was against on Thursday. [...] The point, though, is the ugly habit Romney has of taking one position on an issue and then soon after taking the exact opposite position. In this case, the 180-degree turn on education policy took literally just one day. And then Romney has the chutzpah to boast, “I stand by my positions”?Seriously? I can vaguely understand how Romney became a leading presidential candidate. How anyone trusts his word, however, remains a mystery to me."

During the Fox News/Google Republican primary debate, Mitt Romney adamantly denied Rick Perry's charge that he supported the Obama administrator's "Race to the Top." Unfortunately for Mr. Romney, we have him on video praising the program the very DAY BEFORE the debate. American Bridge included the turnaround in our second "Mitt's Flips" video, a new series we started highlighting Romney's bad habit of abandoning his so-called convictions when it suits him politically. The Youngstown Vindicator wrote an editorial hitting Josh Mandel for his failure to file his required personal financial disclosure.
You would think as the state treasurer, Josh Mandel would have a good grasp of finances. But Mandel, a Republican, is apparently having trouble figuring out his own personal finances.
