While Paul Ryan didn’t take the final jump and formally endorse Donald Trump, he made it abundantly clear that he has no issue with Trump’s xenophobic and misogynistic personality, saying Trump is a “very warm and genuine person” with a “very good personality.”
That doesn’t say much about Ryan’s judgment, because here’s what Paul Ryan’s calling “good” and warm”:
Trump’s xenophobia and hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric
- “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists.”
- “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States, until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”
- Refusing to apologize for calling women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals.”
- “Now the poor guy, you gotta see this guy…”
Trump’s insulting of John McCain and prisoners of war
- “He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured — I like people that weren’t captured.”
- “Negotiating with China…they say, ‘We want deal!'”
And that’s not even getting to Trump’s hardline anti-choice and anti-science positions, though Ryan’s sure to be wholly on board with those.
