Rand Paul Confirms GOP Rebrand Remains Indefinitely Postponed

Oct 23, 2015

In the latest confirmation that the Republican Party plans to indefinitely postpone its big rebrand, Rand Paul today said: “I’m not a big fan of, sort of, Black Lives Matter.”

For the most part, Paul seems to be a stubborn guy. For one, he isn’t willing to scrap his done-for presidential bid and focus on getting reelected in Kentucky — where NRSC polling is looking “bleak,” according to Politico.

But Paul has apparently cast aside any interest in being a “defender…of minority rights” — and abandoned any effort to expand the GOP base.

SHOT:

[T]here is no greater defender, truly, of minority rights…than myself, because I will stand up there with the most progressive members of the caucus in the Senate and say, you know what, civil liberties are important, and they’re important particularly because of some of the egregious things that happened in America’s history.

CHASER:

I would also say that I’m very much — well, I’m not a big fan of, sort of, Black Lives Matter, because I think it sounds like “only black lives matter.”
