Hmmm, the new GOP looks conspicuously like… the old GOP.
I suppose you can give them credit for trying. After all, Rep. Renee Ellmers’s newest gaffe took place during a panel on how to make the Republican Party more appealing to women. Unfortunately, her solution was to have her male colleagues “bring it down to a woman’s level” because “men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level.”
That is the GOP’s plan for better messaging to female voters? Folks, you can’t make this stuff up.
But the reality is, when you’re seeing headlines like “Senate GOP Blocks Bill on Contraception Coverage,” and running candidates for Senate like Thom Tillis, who thinks that states should have the ability to make birth control illegal entirely, you don’t just have a messaging problem. You have a policy problem.
