Following the call to reject the disastrous Graham-Cassidy-Heller healthcare plan by a growing bipartisan group of governors — including Sen. Dean Heller’s own governor — American Bridge spokesperson Joshua Karp made the following statement:
“Governors from both sides of the aisle recognize that their states would be decimated by Graham-Cassidy-Heller — ending Medicaid as we know it, stripping 32 million Americans off of their health care, and gutting protections for pre-existing conditions. Look no further than Nevada, where Sen. Dean Heller can’t even persuade his own state’s governor, Brian Sandoval, to go along with his horrific scheme. For the sake of their constituents’ health and their own political survival, Senate Republicans should abandon this partisan repeal effort and focus on bipartisan solutions that put Americans first.”
In a June joint press conference with Governor Sandoval, Heller said that he’d only support legislation that Republican governors like Sandoval supported, promising, “You’ve got to make sure the Republican governors that have expanded this Medicaid sign off on it.”
