Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 70, appeared tired, confused names, regurgitated GOP and Kremlin talking points, and continued to do the bidding of Donald Trump at what he generously called a “press conference” Sunday evening.
RFK Jr.’s ego is out of this world. He’ll clearly do anything to stay in the spotlight as he baselessly attacked the Democratic Party at the same time as he said he would accept the party’s nomination. Less than a week ago, RFK Jr. was on a secret phone call with Trump agreeing that he would win the election and entertaining Trump’s overture to do something “big” together. Today, the Washington Post revealed RFK Jr. spoke to Donald Trump about endorsing his campaign in exchange for a role in a second Trump administration.
“RFK Jr.’s arrogance is legend, but it was still incredible to see him – with a straight face – suggest Democrats should hand him the keys to the party not a week after his secret conversation with Donald Trump was made public,” said American Bridge 21st Century Communications Director of Presidential Campaigns Brandon Weathersby. “It was also remarkably audacious to speak from the Kennedy Compound, despite his dearth of support within his own family. RFK Jr. is nothing more than a right-wing spoiler who would’ve been more at home in Red Square or at Mar-a-Lago.”
Later on Sunday, RFK Jr. turned to his handlers at FOX News and used his airtime to compare the Democratic primary process to Russia’s rigged election in which President Vladimir Putin received 88% of the vote. “President Putin had gotten rid, made sure no adversaries could challenge him, and also that he had fixed the press so the press wouldn’t cover his adversaries,” RFK Jr. said. “Well, the Democratic Party succeeded in doing the same thing.”
Here are some highlights:
- RFK Jr. confused President Biden with Trump, saying, “On the Republican side, President Biden promised that last time around that he was going to drain the swamp.”
- RFK Jr. referred to BlackRock CEO Larry Fink as “Larry Flink.”
- RFK Jr. referred to Russia as the “Soviet Union.”
- RFK Jr. disgustingly accused Vice President Harris of overseeing a “modern version of indentured servitude, a modern version of slavery.”
- RFK Jr. continuously referred to President Biden as a candidate, despite the news that drove him to hold a press conference.
- A reporter noticed and said to him: “You’re still focusing a lot on President Biden. He is out of the race. In fact, at one point you even said, you know, highly critical of President Biden, said if President Biden, you know, were to win, if Donald Trump were to win, but he’s announced for hours now that he’s out. Were you just confused or have you moved on from it? It was little… it stood out.”
- RFK Jr., who lives in California (no matter what he falsely claims to state election authorities), repeatedly mispronounced the first name of his state’s former senator Vice President Kamala Harris.
- RFK Jr. bizarrely and falsely claimed that there “literally is no policy on their website,” referring to the Democratic ticket.
- RFK Jr. continued to blame President Biden for Russia’s devastating war on Ukraine, painting Russian President Vladimir Putin as a peacemaker.
- RFK Jr. (again) bizarrely and falsely called himself the “only candidate who is pro-choice” even though he supports the same 15-week abortion ban as Mike Pence.
