Marco Rubio’s back on board with George W. Bush’s Iraq invasion.
In an interview today with 630 WLAP Radio, Marco Rubio revealed he believes that, “irrespective” of flawed intelligence at the time, George W. Bush’s disastrous, trillion-dollar invasion of Iraq was not a mistake.
Question: “Do you believe the Iraq war was a mistake?”
Rubio: “No.”
Saddam Hussein “still [had] to be dealt with one way or the other,” Rubio said, signaling commitment to the deeply-flawed Bush Doctrine — a foreign policy legacy similarly championed by Jeb Bush, who called the invasion “a pretty good deal.”
Marco Rubio’s danced around on the Iraq invasion in the past. In May, he said that he in retrospect wouldn’t have supported an invasion, but within a week he had reversed course and said “it was not a mistake,” given the “president was presented with intelligence that said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.”
Now, Marco Rubio’s on board with the trillion-dollar Bush invasion “irrespective” of the intelligence.
It’s good to know once and for all how he really feels.
