Republicans are in support of dangerous cuts to Social Security and Medicaid that will screw over their constituents in order to pay for their billionaire tax cut. Empowered by their allies in Congress like Scott Perry (PA-10), Donald Trump and his supporters have led an aggressive effort to decimate Social Security’s workforce and infrastructure. These are cuts that target the core stability of this earned benefit American workers rely on.
“Perry has enabled cuts that will gut Social Security and Medicaid. He’s responsible for this, and while his voters are struggling to afford groceries and health care, they won’t forget Perry’s betrayal,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado.
Pennsylvanians who depend on Social Security, Medicaid, and SNAP will suffer as a result:
- Approximately 166,471 of Perry’s constituents in Pennsylvania’s 10th District rely on Social Security.
- Approximately 102,400 (16%) of Perry’s constituents in Pennsylvania’s 10th District are covered by Medicaid or CHIP, and more than 38,000 people in the district have used SNAP.
Before voting to slash Medicaid, Perry previously voted for a Republican package that could have taken Medicaid coverage away from nearly two million Americans.
