Scott Walker is making his extreme 20-week abortion ban even more extreme today by saying he will continue to oppose any exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother.
From AP: “Gov. Scott Walker says he will sign a 20-week abortion ban whether or not it includes an exemption for cases of rape or incest… A bill banning abortions after 20 weeks is slated for a joint public hearing Tuesday in the Legislature. It does not include an exemption for rape or incest.”
Walker is a natural fit with the far-right evangelical base – he consistently opposes a woman’s right to choose with no exception. The 20-week bill is being fast-tracked (it was introduced less than a month ago) after Walker met with influential evangelical leaders and is eager to prove he’s their guy. From supporting a ban on common forms of birth control to making drastic cuts to women’s preventative care, Walker has a long and dangerous record to that the Tea Party is sure to love.
