CLEVELAND – Last night, Donald Trump disavowed our country’s obligation to our NATO allies. Still, Republican senators and senate candidates are standing by Trump and supporting the presidential nominee. American Bridge 21st Century President Jessica Mackler, released the following statement in response to Trump and his Republican Senate supporters:
“Donald Trump’s reckless, and perhaps ignorant, understanding of NATO puts the safety of our county and our allies at risk. Trump’s inability to comprehend NATO shows he’s not fit to be commander in chief. Despite all of this, Republican Senators including those that sit and even chair the Homeland Security Committee, the Intelligence Committee, and the Foreign Relations Committee, continue to coward, choosing party unity over our national security. Perhaps if they showed up to more of their hearing and did their job, they’d understand just what a threat the Trump doctrine poses.”
