Spineless senators Joni Ernst, Susan Collins, John Cornyn and Thom Tillis all voted to confirm Trump’s dangerous pick for Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, despite her disastrous record of siding with Russia and supporting dictators.
“This vote proves that Republican senators up for reelection are more terrified of Donald Trump and a primary challenge than doing their job of thoroughly vetting obviously unqualified — if not actively dangerous — cabinet picks,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado. “These cowardly Republicans put aside the safety of our country in exchange for political capital, and now their constituents will have to face the consequences of having a Director of National Intelligence who will help Trump threaten American families’ safety in order to sell our country out to our adversaries.”
In addition to voting to confirm Gabbard, Collins came out in support of Gabbard after her hearing. Cornyn met with Gabbard before the committee hearing and praised her as “impressive.” Tillis claimed Gabbard was committed to “transparency and accountability,” and Ernst praised Gabbard during her committee hearing.
