AUDIO: Tenney reiterates sick lie about mass shootings

This morning, during an interview with TALK! 100.7 FM in Utica, Claudia Tenney repeated and defended her unhinged claim about mass shooters often being Democrats, saying, “but yes, some of these people are Republicans, but yes, many do end up becoming – when you look them up, they become Democrats.” Later in the interview, Tenney even encouraged listeners to look up lists online that independent fact-checkers have refuted.

“It is outrageous and revolting that Congresswoman Tenney is continuing to spout this widely disproven conspiracy theory,” said American Bridge spokesperson Andrew Bates. “Maliciously exploiting a national tragedy for partisan purposes is absolutely disqualifying behavior for any elected official. Tenney’s refusal to face facts is a shocking act of disrespect for the people who are counting on her for leadership.”

In the aftermath of the tragic Parkland shooting, Tenney told a conservative radio host that, “many of these people that commit […]

American Bridge Statement Regarding Claudia Tenney Fund Raising off Disgusting Comments About Mass Shootings

American Bridge spokesperson Andrew Bates released the following statement after Congresswoman Claudia Tenney sent out a campaign fundraising email based on her thoroughly debunked and appalling claim that “many of these people that commit the mass murders end up being Democrats.”

“It’s disgusting that Congresswoman Tenney is trying to raise cash for her campaign by highlighting a lie which politicized a national tragedy.  Instead of dodging questions from journalists and fundraising off her egregiously irresponsible and offensive tirade, Tenney should try apologizing for it.  Her constituents deserve better than an unaccountable liar who sees something as horrific as a mass shooting as something to exploit.”

BREAKING: Four Members of Congress From New York Vote To Raise Taxes On Middle Class Americans, Cut Medicare, And Send Jobs Overseas

American Bridge spokesperson Joshua Karp released the following statement in response to four members of Congress from New York voting to pass the House Republican tax plan:

“Putting their party over what is best for New York, four Republican members of Congress from the state just voted to raise taxes on 36 million middle class Americans — including 1,690,000 New Yorkers — cut Medicare by $25 billion, and outsource American jobs, all to cut taxes for the very rich and big business. This is a disastrous plan that sells-out hardworking, average Americans who are counting on jobs and a better economic future. Voters deserve better, and they will hold these members accountable.”

Yesterday, American Bridge’s Bridge Project released a new digital ad running nationally on Facebook, “Trumps Tax Plan Sells You Out,” which highlights warnings that the Republican tax plan would break Donald Trump’s #1 promise and […]

Representatives John Faso, Elise Stefanik, and Claudia Tenney Brace  to Threaten Health Coverage for New Yorkers with Trumpcare Vote

The Trump Administration and Republicans in the House of Representatives are rushing a vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act this week and replace it with Trumpcare, which would devastate families in New York and across America. And U.S. Representatives John Faso, Elise Stefanik,  and Claudia Tenney are right there with them, jeopardizing health insurance and the wellbeing of people across New York.

“There are very few votes that define someone’s values like this one will.  Representatives Faso, Stefanik, and Tenney should do the right thing and oppose this reckless, partisan attack on people across New York.  This bill will kick millions off of their insurance, needlessly bails out big insurance companies, and strips nearly $1 trillion from healthcare funding, all in order to cut taxes for the rich.  If they  vote for it, they should fully expect to be held accountable by their constituents,” said American Bridge […]

Public School Children Could Pay For A Trump Tax-Dodge Lie

Donald Trump’s attempts to duck taxes at a New York golf course could cost local public school children, according CNN.

At issue is how much Trump owes in property taxes, dictated by the property’s valuation. On his FEC filings, Trump values the property at “more than $50 million.” But Trump is fighting hard to pay as little as possible, so his attorneys say the property’s true value is just 2.7% of that: $1.35 million.

Trump says voters have no right to know how much he pays in taxes, but he brags that he “[fights] very hard to pay as little tax as possible,” so it’s no surprise that he’s doing his best to avoid paying his fair share.

But here’s the real kicker: If Trump gets away with his tax dodge lie, “public school children then lose out.” Because “more than half that [tax] loss will be felt in the district’s budget.”

The New Tea Party Cavalry Riding Into Washington

The Republican Party rode a Koch-fuelled wave to victory in elections around the country this week, but don’t let them fool you: nothing about their extreme, Tea Party agenda has changed. The GOP has not moderated itself. It has not rid itself of “gaffe-prone” candidates. It has not adopted a milder, more palatable stance on key policy issues that impact the lives of women, immigrants, or working families. And the proof is in the pudding. A quick scan of some of the newest members of the House shows just how extreme this latest crop of Tea Party Republican members of Congress truly are.

From Georgia to Maine, Virginia to Wisconsin, Illinois to Iowa, extreme Tea Party Republicans have been elected to seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Take Glenn Grothman in Wisconsin’s 6th District to start. We’ve already detailed the long list of Grothman’s greatest extreme hits, but as a quick refresher, the Congressman-elect has: proselytized about the “war on men,” fought for a seven-day workweek, and proposed a law to formally consider single parenthood a contributing factor to child abuse.

Michael Grimm & The Rabbi Pinto Scandal

Law Enforcement Source Claimed That Grimm Threatened Orthodox Rabbi And Congregation. According to the New York Daily News, “Grimm had mentioned that he was a former FBI agent and let the rabbi know, through his interpreter and staff, that he could help the congregation, or make life tougher for them, and that he was a good person to have as a friend, not an enemy,’ a law enforcement source told Roll Call.” [New York Daily News, 03/03/12]

New York Times: Grimm Told Supporter That “There Were Ways Of Working Around The Campaign Rules.” According to the New York Times, “A second follower recalled that Mr. Grimm came to his office in Manhattan to solicit a legal contribution. As he was handing over the check, the second follower said, Mr. Grimm confided in him that there were ways of working around the campaign rules. ‘Grimm wanted you to supply the money, and if someone wants to give and cannot give, you have to find a friend to give it through,’ the second follower recalled. ‘Let’s say someone is not legal to give because he’s not American. Grimm wants this guy, Joe A, to give the money to Joe B so Joe B can make the contribution to the campaign.’” [New York Times, 01/28/12]

Rabbi’s Followers Alleged That Grimm Told Congregation Members He Could Take Illegal Donations. According the New York Times, “Three of the rabbi’s followers said in separate interviews that Mr. Grimm or Mr. Biton told them that the campaign would find a way to accept donations that were over the legal limit, were given in cash or were given by foreigners without green cards. Congressional campaigns are not allowed to accept cash donations of more than $100.” [New York Times, 01/28/12]

Our video on the shady activity that prompted the reporter’s question in the first place:

American Bridge Launches “Meet the Crooks” Website
