Tonight, wannabe Jeff Gordon and Little League NASCAR retiree Austin Theriault became the Republican nominee in Maine’s second congressional district primary.
“Austin Theriault’s campaign is shaping up to be just like his NASCAR career — starting off mediocre and fizzling out,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Monica Venzke. “If elected, he’ll work to serve one person and one person only— himself. He’s made it abundantly clear that his loyalties lie with Donald Trump’s agenda to ban abortion, give massive tax handouts to the ultra wealthy, and gut Social Security and Medicare — not with Mainers.”
Austin Theriault is wrong for Maine, and here’s why:
- He celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and he answered “yes” on a questionnaire that asked if abortion access should be restricted.
- As state representative, he voted against a bill to explicitly enshrine abortion access into the state Constitution.
- He skipped important votes about abortion access as state representative and instead posted pictures of pancakes.
- He doesn’t even have an issues page on his website.
- His NASCAR record is mediocre at best.
