Trump Campaign Brags About Suppressing Black Voters

In a move sure to excite Donald Trump’s white nationalist supporters, the racist birther’s presidential campaign is instituting a voter suppression operation targeting women and African Americans. The Republican Party has sought to restrict African Americans’ right to vote for years. (Case in point: the recent North Carolina voter ID law that was struck down on the grounds that it sought to target and disenfranchise black voters.)

But now, in tandem with Trump’s work to question the integrity of the democratic process, Trump’s campaign is actually bragging about their voter suppression efforts:

Instead of expanding the electorate, Bannon and his team are trying to shrink it. “We have three major voter suppression operations under way,” says a senior official. They’re aimed at three groups Clinton needs to win overwhelmingly: idealistic white liberals, young women, and African Americans.

Trump Continues Proud GOP Tradition Of Voter Suppression, Election Fraud Fearmongering

Donald Trump sees the election slipping away from him. But he refuses to concede that his racism and misogyny, including his bragging about sexually assaulting women, might have something to do with it.

Instead, Trump is trumpeting a “stolen election” — a baseless conspiracy with undeniably racist undertones — and urging voter intimidation by telling his supporters to get a group of friends together and “go down to [polling places in] certain areas and watch and study.”

Some members of the Republican establishment are feigning astonishment and outrage that their party’s leader would stoop to such an embarrassing and disgusting low.

But here’s the thing: Voter suppression and disenfranchisement and “voter fraud” fearmongering, are longstanding Republican Party traditions, and not just among the fringe; it starts at the top.

Apparently GOP leaders forgot that the RNC is currently under a “longstanding consent decree” that bars the committee from engaging in Trump-esque voter suppression.

WATCH: Mike Pence is Donald Trump’s Clean-Up Man

Ahead of tonight’s vice presidential debate, American Bridge is releasing “Donald Trump’s Clean-Up Man,” a new digital ad that highlights Mike Pence’s futile efforts to smooth over Donald Trump’s racist, sexist, and conspiracy theorist outbursts.

It’s Pence’s job to make Trump look more “presidential,” but he’s an abject failure in that regard, because all he does is agree with and try to justify Trump’s immaturity and divisiveness.

American Bridge President Jessica Mackler issued the following statement ahead of tonight’s VP debate:

“Mike Pence consistently defends Trump’s mass-deportation, racial profiling, and Muslim ban. And when Trump said that Putin is a stronger leader than President Obama, Pence readily agreed. Pence has even laughed off Trump’s incitement of violence against Clinton, calls for Russia to conduct cyber-espionage in the U.S., and claim that the President is the ‘founder of ISIS.’ Rather than admonish Trump, Pence has stood by him throughout, calling him […]

He’s racist.

Donald Trump reverted back to the same racist insults and mentality he’s spewed throughout this campaign and his life. He would implement stop and frisk nationally, denigrates the lives of African Americans and Latinos, and spent 5 years promoting a racist conspiracy theory that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States. Earlier this month, someone on Trump’s staff finally convinced him to begrudgingly say that Obama was born in the U.S. — but that doesn’t mean Trump believes it, and the way Trump’s essentially dodged questions on his birtherism since then suggests he probably still does.

Donald Trump hasn’t apologized for years of his racist birtherism, nor similarly for the broader, deep-seeded racism and moments of bigotry that have defined his campaign.

Here are just a few instances of flagrant racism and bigotry that Trump should — but refuses to — apologize for tonight:

Trump’s called immigrants […]

MEMO: We Already Know Who Trump Is

MEMO
TO:         Interested Parties
FROM:   Jessica Mackler, President, American Bridge 21st Century
RE:         We Already Know Who Trump Is
DATE:    September 25, 2016

We’ve had nearly four decades of Donald Trump living (and forcing us to watch) his life in public, so we know exactly who Trump is as he takes the stage at the first presidential debate Monday night.

Trump is a sexist bully with a history of discrimination against African Americans and Latinos. He intentionally appeals to white nationalists and gives a voice to their xenophobia and irrational hate. He admires foreign dictators and is a danger to our economic and national security. Knowing all we know about Donald Trump, he has proven himself completely unfit to be commander in chief.

Trump showed in the primary debates that no matter what he does or says at the debate, Trump is who he is. He has good nights and bad […]

“Stop-and-frisk”: Trump Tells African Americans What They “Have To Lose”

This afternoon, Donald Trump told African American voters “what the hell [they] have to lose” if he’s elected:

“I would do stop-and-frisk. I think you have to,” Trump told Sean Hannity this afternoon, adding, “I think that could be one step you could do.”

Trump again proved that he’s unaware of the current climate between the African American community and law enforcement and has on multiple occasions endorsed racial and religious profiling during the course of his nativist presidential campaign.

That’s nothing new. But this is seemingly the first instance of Trump calling for racist and unconstitutional — at least in the case of the New York discriminatory program Trump cites as a model — targeting of African Americans.

This is just the latest chapter in Donald Trump’s long racist history of discriminating against African Americans — first in housing, denying African Americans’ rental applications, now […]

Don’t Expect Apology From Trump- He’s Still Racist Birther, Doubling Down On Debunked Clinton Conspiracy Theories

Donald Trump is at it again — he’s spewing racist rhetoric and doubling down on long debunked Clinton conspiracy theories. Trump has already tried sham attack, and numerous fact checkers have labeled it false. See more below —

CNN: Hillary Clinton was not a ‘birther’

PolitiFact: Did Hillary Clinton start the Obama birther movement? False.

Washington Post: Donald Trump’s ridiculous claim that Hillary Clinton started the birther movement

Bloomberg: Trump Plans to Link Clinton to Obama Birth Questions

By Elizabeth Titus and Joshua Green
September 16, 2016

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s big announcement Friday will attempt to convince voters that Democratic rival Hillary Clinton deserved blame for questions about President Barack Obama’s birth, Trump advisers said.

“You watch my statement,” Trump said in a phone interview on Fox Business, suggesting it would take place at a 10 a.m. campaign event he has scheduled in Washington at his namesake hotel. […]

David Duke and Mike Pence’s Mutual Admiration Society

Today, after Mike Pence made headlines this week for refusing to call David Duke “deplorable” when asked by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, David Duke returned the favor and expressed his admiration for Pence. Duke has been a vocal advocate for the Trump/Pence ticket, and just a few minutes ago he again expressed his support for the ticket and thanked Pence for his refusal to call Duke deplorable.

Trump and Pence have a history of refusing to denounce the former KKK Grand Wizard and noted white supremacist, and Pence’s refusal to denounce yesterday was just the latest in a string of comments by the Trump campaign refusing to condemn Duke.

Between Pence’s comments earlier this week and Duke’s today, one thing is clear — the Trump/Pence ticket is inextricably tied to a noted white supremacist and former KKK Grand Wizard.

Mike Pence doesn’t think KKK Grand Wizard is “deplorable?”

Mike Pence on CNN just refused to call the former grand wizard of the KKK, David Duke, “deplorable.” Donald Trump refused to denounce Duke and his support for his racist, xenophobic campaign and in return, Duke is one of Trump’s strongest defenders — even going as far as telling white voters that voting against Trump is “treason to your heritage.”

On a day when voters are reminded over and over about the racist, white nationalist sentiments of Trump’s campaign, Pence gave us one more reminder that they’re unwilling to denounce neo-Nazis.

What Hasn’t Trump Apologized For?

For someone so insistent on demanding apologies, Donald Trump, at least by our count, hasn’t apologized for anything.

Here are a few inflammatory, offensive, and flat-out racist things that the man “who like[s] to not regret anything” has yet to apologize for:

1. Maligning immigrants as “rapists” who are “bringing drugs,…crime.”

Refusal to apologize: “I love the Mexican people, but no apology because everything I said is 100 percent correct. All you have to do is read the newspapers.”

2. Mocking a reporter with a disability.

Refusal to apologize: “I don’t take that back because the person was groveling in terms — if you read his statements about well, did you say this and did you write this paragraph, he was really grasping for straws.”

3. Disparaging prisoners of war and Senator John McCain for getting “captured.”

Refusal to apologize: “No, not at all…I got a standing ovation, […]
