In response to a leaked report that the Supreme Court’s Republican appointees have voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, 2024 presidential hopeful Ted Cruz praised the decision, saying Roe “was wrong the day it was decided” and its demise will be “a massive victory.”
Despite Cruz’s giddy enthusiasm, overturning Roe is a deeply unpopular decision that is opposed by a majority of voters who do not believe Republican politicians, like Ted Cruz, should have the final say over whether a person gets an abortion.
Cruz: Ending Abortion Access Is “A Massive Victory”
During his time as a spineless Republican lawmaker, Cruz has urged the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, recently by writing a brief urging the court to uphold Mississippi’s highly-restrictive abortion ban. Cruz has even gone so far as to say he opposes abortion exceptions in cases of rape and incest.
