Eight years ago, Orlando’s LGBTQ+ residents were the target of one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history. After the shocking news that someone entered Pulse Nightclub and cut 49 lives short, people all over the country grieved over their deaths – except Donald Trump.
Trump’s first response to the deadly event was to gloat about receiving “congrats” on “being right on radical Islamic terrorism.”
Trump’s self-indulgent tweet was met with backlash from political observers across the ideological spectrum.
“In the aftermath of one of the worst mass shootings in American history, Donald Trump thought about himself before the 49 lives lost at Pulse Nightclub or their surviving, grieving families trying to make sense of a senseless tragedy,” said American Bridge 21st Century Presidential Campaigns Communications Director, Brandon Weathersby. “It’s just one of the many examples that prove Donald Trump is always concerned with himself first and foremost. That’s why Trump has spent over a week fantasizing about revenge on his political rivals after becoming a convicted felon. This fucking guy has zero empathy for others and no plan for the country except ruling as a dictator outside of seeking political retribution after losing an election and finally being held accountable by the justice system.”
