Donald Trump isn’t just wrecking retirement accounts and bulldozing small businesses—he’s torching the American economy like it’s a game and everyone else’s livelihoods are collateral damage.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) just shredded its own forecasts, slashing U.S. growth for 2025 to a dismal 1.8%, down from 2.7% in January. According to the IMF report, inflation is set to spike to 3%, and there’s now a 40% chance the U.S. plunges into recession.
The cause? Trump’s chaotic economic policies. Consumer confidence is cratering. Household spending is drying up. And markets here and across the globe are bracing for impact.
You can already see the damage on the ground:
- In North Carolina, farmers like John Ashe say Trump’s tariffs create large swings in the price of crops, which threaten the demand for soybeans and tobacco.
- In Georgia, Joe Novak, owner of Kazoo Toys, said Trump’s tariffs will force him to raise prices and worries the trade war will reach a “scary point” for his business.
- In Pennsylvania, Roberta Wiseburg, owner of Ramona Weissburg Leathers, said one of her suppliers raised prices by 35% due to Trump’s tariff tax.
- In South Carolina, Rozalynn Goodwin, co-founder of Gabby Bows, says tariffs on their goods increased from $1,000 to $6,000 thanks to Trump, eclipsing the cost of their entire order.
- In Maryland, Linen World shut down after 40 years in business due to Trump’s tariffs.
- In Wisconsin, Jeff Kraft, an employee of Titletown Brewing Company, said that Trump’s tariffs on aluminum will force the company to pay higher costs for beer cans – a cost they can’t afford to pass on to the consumer.
“Donald Trump’s tariffs are economic vandalism pretending to be policy. They are killing jobs, crushing small businesses, and driving up prices across the board,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “While Trump and his mouthpieces lie through their teeth and pretend everything is fine, respected economists across the spectrum are raising red flags. The economy is unraveling, and Republicans are either too reckless, too clueless, or too dishonest to admit it.”
