Donald Trump today told FOX News that conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be part of his cabinet if he wins in November.
When asked about RFK Jr. joining his cabinet on “FOX & Friends,” Trump said, “Oh, he’s going to be a part of it.”
Many in Trump’s orbit have touted RFK Jr. for a position in a second Trump administration, and RFK Jr. is openly angling for one. He has been mentioned for positions ranging from Health and Human Services Secretary to the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an agency he’s attacked with dangerous lies about vaccine safety.
American Bridge’s deep research, available for download from the Trump’s Orbit website, includes everything from RFK Jr.’s long history of mistreating women to his dangerous conspiratorial beliefs. RFK Jr.’s extreme record shows why he was welcomed by Donald Trump and MAGA sycophants.
“It would make sense for Donald Trump to tap RFK Jr. for his cabinet,” said American Bridge 21st Century Communications Director of Presidential Campaigns Brandon Weathersby. “Both men are wealthy, egomaniacal, septuagenarian trust-fund babies with histories of disgraceful–and criminal–treatment of women. They both push wild, undeniably false conspiracy theories. They both carry water for strongmen around the world while winking at violent fascists here at home. The prospect of either man being in charge of any government apparatus is disturbing, and yet these two dangerous conmen could be weeks away from making important decisions about the future of the country. Trump confirming that a person as unserious as RFK Jr. would be one of his closest advisors is as predictable as it is unacceptable.”
RFK Jr. has spent years making comments and taking actions that would be disqualifying for any position in government, let alone a Senate-confirmed role in a presidential cabinet:
- In July 2023, RFK Jr. suggested that COVID-19 was designed to spare “Jews and Chinese,” saying: “COVID-19. There is an argument that it is ethnically targeted. COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately. COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”
- In 2019, RFK Jr. played a leading role in opposing the measles vaccine in the territory of American Samoa, where two infants had died after nurses had “mistakenly mixed the vaccine with a muscle relaxant,” according to Mother Jones. But RFK Jr. and his organization exploited the deaths and supported a campaign against vaccination. The resulting drop in vaccinations led to a measles outbreak that ultimately killed more than 80 people.
- Former RFK Jr. employee, Eliza Cooney, came forward earlier this year and accused RFK Jr. of sexual harassment and assault when she worked for him as a part-time babysitter. RFK Jr didn’t deny the allegations, but instead said, “I am not a church boy” and referenced having a rambunctious youth despite being in his mid-forties at the time of the alleged incident. According to the Washington Post, RFK Jr. privately texted Cooney claiming to have “no memory” of the incident, but still apologized for doing anything that hurt her feelings. In the same series of messages, RFK Jr. requested to speak with Cooney face to face.
- In 2024, after being interviewed by the journalist Olivia Nuzzi, RFK Jr. entered into an affair with her, according to the woman’s then-fiance, the reporter Ryan Lizza. RFK Jr. allegedly told Nuzzi he wanted to “possess,” “control” and “impregnate” her.
- RFK Jr. has repeatedly, and without evidence, claimed that antidepressants were the cause of mass shootings; researchers have not found anything that would support that claim.
