Donald Trump had no problem slapping Americans with the largest tax hike in 43 years, crashing markets holding the retirement funds of millions of people, and forcing businesses to fire workers or close their doors for good – but he refuses to raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires.
Trump told reporters that making the richest people in the country pay their fair share to fund services that help all Americans would be “disruptive” and “bad because wealthy people pay the tax.”
Meanwhile, working families and small businesses are getting crushed by Trump’s tariff tax hike as he drags down the entire economy. His reckless trade war is increasing prices, creating sticker shocks for new parents, newlyweds, entrepreneurs, and seniors. Trump’s tariffs have disrupted markets and taxed nearly every major milestone of American life.
“Trump and the GOP aren’t fighting for the middle class, they’re looting it by making every aspect of American life more expensive, gutting federal agencies designed to help all Americans, and pushing a tax cut for the ultra-wealthy,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “The bottom line is, if you’re not rich, Republicans have a plan to tax the hell out of you while protecting the millionaires and billionaires who help fill their campaign coffers.”
