Trump's Budget Sells Out Kids, Working Families, And Retirees

May 23, 2017

American Bridge President Jessica Mackler issued the following statement on Trump’s budget that cuts Social Security and Medicaid, guts crucial programs like CHIP and food stamps, and slashes funding for low-income housing and school lunch programs:

“You don’t make America great by cutting kids’ health insurance, taking away their school lunches, and making it harder for their parents to find them a place to live. And there’s no ‘greatness’ in slashing disability insurance or threatening food access for the 42 million Americans who count on food stamps. Across the board, Trump is breaking his promises and selling us out, including with big cuts to Social Security and Medicaid.

“This budget will do real harm to kids, working families, and retirees. And any Republican who stands by it will pay a heavy price at at the ballot box.”
