Trump’s First Two Months: A Total Breakdown of Law and Order

Mar 14, 2025

From the day he was sworn in for his second term in office, Donald Trump has worked to undermine the rule of law and erode the very institutions that keep Americans safe and free.

Trump has pardoned violent insurrectionists, filled his cabinet with dangerous conspiracy theorists, made dangerous cuts across the board, and manipulated the federal government to punish his political rivals. This administration has made it clear it has no interest in upholding the rule of law or keeping Americans safe.

On his first day back in the White House, Donald Trump signed an executive order issuing sweeping pardons for nearly 1,600 people for their crimes related to the violent January 6th insurrection. Multiple individuals who received pardons have since found themselves in legal trouble again – with at least one fatal outcome.

Trump doubled down on his dangerous presidency by installing some of the most extreme cabinet nominees in modern history, including insurrectionist sympathizer Kash Patel, revenge-obsessed Dan Bongino, Kremlin sympathizer Tulsi Gabbard, election denier Pam Bondi, and anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist RFK Jr.

In one of the administration’s most lawless actions to date, Trump’s Office of Management and Budget ordered the pause of all federal grants and loans dispersed by the federal government. Trump has also taken a scorched-earth approach to the federal workforce, unlawfully firing thousands of civil servants in a move that legal scholars have deemed a direct violation of federal employment protections.

Vice President JD Vance and Republicans have repeatedly attacked judges who have ruled against the funding freeze and some have proposed impeaching federal judges.

In addition, Trump is once again monetizing the presidency with several conflicts of interest surrounding his meme cryptocurrency, his social media platform, and billing American taxpayers more than $1.4 million for security at his for-profit properties while removing security details for his political rivals.

“What used to be blatant corruption like profiting off the presidency, attacking the justice system, and silencing critics is now just another day under the Trump administration,” said American Bridge spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Trump has broken down the rule of law and twisted it for his political and personal benefit. This country deserves a president focused on making life better and safer for all Americans, not just himself and his billionaire friends.”
