Wiles and January 6
Wiles Said Trump Did Not Cause The January 6, 2021 Insurrection. According to POLITICO Magazine, “The Donald Trump that I have come to know,’ she said, ‘I would feel 101 percent confident in his ability to do the right thing.’ And then she went to work for him again in the 2020 cycle, and then again, of course, in the still raw wake of Jan. 6 — ‘clearly,’ I said here now outside the Starbucks, ‘not a breaking point for you …’ She paused. ‘I didn’t love it,’ she said. ‘It wasn’t so … ‘ ‘… odious to you …’ ‘Well,’ Wiles said, ‘I didn’t think he caused it.'” [POLITICO Magazine, 4/26/24]
Wiles and Classified Documents
Wiles Was Allegedly The Unnamed Individual To Whom Trump Illegally Showed A Classified Map After He Left Office. According to USA TODAY, “The office of special counsel Jack Smith interviewed Wiles about Trump’s handling of classified documents in the first of two federal criminal cases against the former president. Wiles is believed to be the unnamed individual in Smith’s original indictment to whom Trump allegedly showed a classified map to, according to ABC News. The federal judge in the case recently agreed to strike the paragraph detailing the map incident from the indictment, though. Wiles declined to comment on the case.” [USA TODAY, 7/12/24]
Wiles and Nepotism
February 2017: Wiles’s Daughter, Caroline Wiles, Resigned From The White House After She Could Not Pass An FBI Background Check. According to The Florida Times-Union, “Caroline Wiles, daughter of Jacksonville political consultant Susie Wiles, was one of several White House staffers who recently resigned from their positions after failing an FBI background check and will work elsewhere in President Donald Trump’s administration, according to a Politico report. Wiles was hired last month as deputy assistant to the president and director of scheduling. She was among six aides who couldn’t pass an intensive background check necessary to work in the White House — which requires the highest level of security clearance — according to Wiles.” [The Florida Times-Union, 2/16/17]
2024: Caroline Wiles Had A $222,000 Salary Working For The Trump Campaign, Making Her The Fourth-Highest-Paid Staff Member. According to ProPublica, “A few months later, the Wiles family got more good news. Wiles’ daughter Caroline, who had done some work for Trump’s first campaign and in the White House, where she reportedly left one job because she didn’t pass a background check, was hired by his campaign. Her salary: $222,000, making her currently the fourth-highest-paid staffer. (The Trump campaign official said her salary included a monthly housing stipend.) Susie Wiles said she and another campaign official were responsible for hiring her daughter, who she said has an expertise in logistics and was brought on to handle arrangements for surrogates taking Trump’s place at events he couldn’t attend.” [ProPublica, 6/3/24]
