Trump’s campaign is occasionally able to keep him from lashing out and control him via teleprompter. But there is no teleprompter for the presidency. And that’s why Donald Trump’s volatile and unstable temperament make him a serious threat to our economic and national security and fundamentally unfit to be commander in chief.
- Trump ashed out at and called an American-born federal judge “a Mexican” for doing his job of investigating Trump’s fraudulent Trump University;
- Attacked a Gold Star military family who’s only “transgression” was to criticize his fascist-tinged Muslim ban, then repeatedly refused to apologize;
- Claimed that President Obama is the “founder of ISIS”;
- Repeatedly called Senator Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas” and “goofy” because she tweeted mean things about him;
- Incited violence against Hillary Clinton, suggesting “Second Amendment people” could prevent her from nominating justices to the Supreme Court;
- Incited violence against protesters exercising their First Amendment rights at his campaign rallies;
- “Joked” that he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and not lose support;
- Refused to rule out using nuclear weapons in Europe, said he’d kill terrorist families and bring back waterboarding and “a hell of a lot worse,” and alarmingly asked, “Why are we making [nuclear weapons if we can’t use them]?“; and,
- Expressed his admiration for world dictators, past and present — repeatedly.
The real Donald Trump is a dangerously erratic demagogue, utterly unstable and unable to control himself.
This isn’t a reality show. The Apprentice is over, and Trump’s now on the world stage where his reckless words have very real consequences.
Trump’s repeatedly said that he won’t change his temperament or tone. And a man like Donald Trump, who clearly has zero control over his behavior and actions, has absolutely no place in the Oval Office.
