From birtherism to 9/11-trutherism, and a long-held conviction that global warming is “a hoax,” Donald Trump has for years dabbled in widely-debunked and discredited conspiracy theories.
Theories like Trump’s National Enquirer-inspired suggestion that Ted Cruz’s father was linked to the JFK assassination. Or that Justice Antonin Scalia was murdered with his own pillow. Or that vaccines cause autism.
“All I know is what’s on the internet,” Trump has rationalized. So who can blame the sometimes Alex Jones guest for lacking a firm grasp on reality when he’s getting his news coverage from internet conspiracy websites?
