Tonight, Marc Molinaro will take the stage at the NY-19 debate to try to defend his run to the right, his spreading of racist conspiracy theories, and his support of a national abortion ban.
“Marc Molinaro is a scandal-plagued conspiracy theorist who surrounds himself with the worst people you can imagine,” said American Bridge spokesperson Monica Venzke. “I don’t envy anyone who has to go on live television and try to defend his friendships with predators and sexual harassers. Good luck to him.”
Before the debate, here’s what you should know about Marc Molinaro:
- He spread the racist, debunked conspiracy theory that legal Haitian immigrants are eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio.
- Behind closed doors, he supported a federal abortion ban.
- He even opposed New York’s law that protects reproductive freedom.
- He advocated for a Social Security commission that could absolutely slash the program for New Yorkers.
- He supported Trump’s tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.
- He opposed the Inflation Reduction Act, which will benefit more than 650,000 Medicare enrollees in New York.
- He brought Fred Akshar, a corrupt former sheriff described as a “predator,” as his guest to the State of the Union this year.
- He promoted former state Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin who was sanctioned for sexual harassment.
- He accepted the max federal donation from Ken Fisher — the billionaire whose firm lost billions of dollars due to his sexist and inappropriate professional conduct.
