The Senate healthcare plan will be disastrous to Arizonans, especially those who gained their healthcare through Arizona’s Medicaid expansion, yet Senators Flake and McCain are playing partisan politics. Senator Flake has even remained silent about the new plan of some Republicans to repeal the Affordable Care Act before having a new plan in place, which would irresponsibly rip care from hundreds of thousands of Arizonans and leave them without the most basic safety net. But of course, Senators Flake and McCain have voted over and over again to repeal the Affordable Care Act — so Arizonans know exactly where they stand.

- “Sen. John McCain and Sen. Jeff Flake are in a bind. Particularly Flake, who’s up for reelection next year, has challengers from both parties going after him and protesters squatting in his office.”
- “Republicans in the Senate, operating in secret and with no input from the public or Democrats, have been unable to come up with a replacement plan for the Affordable Care Act.”
- “Sen. John McCain isn’t convinced this is a good idea. ‘I fear we may fall under the trap of repealing and not replacing and that would be bad for America,’ he said. Flake also has been skeptical.”
- The Senate Plan would particularly hurt Arizona because “Arizona is one of 31 states that expanded Medicaid within Obamacare, allowing hundreds of thousands of Arizonans to receive health care.”
- “A repeal leading to deep cuts in Medicaid without any firm plan to accommodate the loss would be a disaster.”
